Plane Crash Kills Four from ORU; Daughter of Teen Mania Founder in Serious Condition

A plane crash has claimed the lives of three male alumni and one former teacher from Oral Roberts University.

The plane carrying Stephen Luth, Luke Sheets, Austin Anderson, Garrett Coble and Hannah Luce went down Friday afternoon in southern Kansas shortly after 4:30 p.m. The group was headed to a Teen Mania conference in Iowa, hosted by Hannah’s father, Ron Luce.

While the others were believed to have died upon impact, Anderson grabbed Luce and pulled her out of the burning plane, which had erupted into flames after striking a tree. Both had sustained serious injuries and attempted to seek help.

Anderson died the following morning at the hospital.

Luce, 22, remains in serious, but stable, condition and has burns on over 25% of her body. She had just graduated from ORU last year and serves as one of the university’s trustees.

Coble was a former professor at ORU and was engaged to be married.
