New ‘Queen James Bible’ Removes References to Homosexuality From Scripture

In an effort to eliminate all known references to homosexuality as being sinful from Scripture, a new homosexual-friendly “Bible” has been released.

The “Queen James” version, which was published at the end of November, is said to be an attempt to “to prevent homophobic misinterpretation” of the Bible. Its publishers claim that the word “homosexuality” was not used in the Bible until 1946 when the Revised Standard Version was released, and that people have misunderstood the original meaning of the text.

The Queen James version makes no other changes to Bible passages other than to eight Scriptures that it feels have been wrongly construed to reference homosexual behavior.

Instead of God’s law in Leviticus 18:21 reading “Thou shall not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination,” it now reads, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind in the temple of Molech: it is an abomination,” insinuating that homosexuality began as a pagan practice, and is only prohibited when the sexual acts are done in the name of paganism.

The publishers do admit, however, that the Bible has across the board prohibitions against other adult relationships, not matter where they are committed or the motivation, explaining, “Leviticus 18 includes a long list of forbidden sexual offenses in the form of incest, from verse 6 (‘near of kin’ relatives) to verse 18 (your wife’s sister). At verse 19, the sexual offenses are no longer incestuous, simply forbidding sex with a menstruating woman (verse 19) and your neighbor’s wife (verse 20).”

Likewise, the publishers state that Romans 1 refers to men and women having same-sex relations as part of pagan idol worship, and edits the text to read, “Their women did change their natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, left of the natural use of the woman, burned in ritual lust, one toward another, men with men working that which is pagan and unseemly. For this cause God gave the idolaters up unto vile affections, receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.”

In 1 Corinthians 6:9, the Queen James Bible removes the word “effeminate” and replaces it with the phrase “morally weak.”

The publishers explain that they called the revised version of the Bible the “Queen James” version because they believe that King James, who commissioned the Bible to be translated into English from its original Hebrew and Greek, was a bisexual.

“King James I’s many gay relationships were so well known that amongst some of his friends and court, he was known as ‘Queen James,'” the website for the publication claims. “It is in his great debt and honor that we name the Queen James Bible so.”

It states that it feels that God’s laws and the Bible itself are antiquated in a variety of ways, but that the publishers did not seek to change the text of other Scriptures of which it disagrees — only texts surrounding homosexuality.

“[T]he Bible is still filled with inequality and even contradiction that we have not addressed. No Bible is perfect, including this one,” the site continues. “We wanted to make a book filled with the word of God that nobody could use to incorrectly condemn God’s LGBT children, and we succeeded.”

“You can’t choose your sexuality, but you can choose Jesus. Now you can choose a Bible, too,” the publishers tout on their various promotional outlets.

Reaction to the edited Bible has been mixed.

“People want to enshrine the Bible as a God, but it is not. It is a series of writings by men that we can learn faith from, if it is the faith we choose,” writes one reviewer on Amazon. “The Bible has done so much harm to LGBT people over time, and all because of faulty translations and biases that were read into them by people.”

“You can change words in the Bible at your own peril, but just because you change the words to make yourself feel better about your grievous sin of homosexuality, it does not change the truth,” writes another. “The truth is, homosexuality is a sin and an abomination in the sight of God. … God help you. The sign of a person who is truly saved is a person who turns from their sins and their life is changed. You cannot say you are saved and then continue in the same lifestyle and life – because if you do friend, I’m sorry to tell you, you are not saved.”

The Queen James Bible sells at approximately $35, and features a rainbow homosexual cross on its cover.
