Texas Abortionist Under Criminal Investigation After Former Employees Expose Gosnell-Like Activity

KarpenHouston, Texas — A Texas abortionist is now under criminal investigation after three former employees decided to come forward to expose his late-term abortion scheme.

As previously reported, Deborah Edge, Krystal Rodriguez and Gigi Aguilar recently spoke with Life Dynamics of Denton, Texas, explaining that the abortionist, whose name was not being released at the time, would snip the spinal cords of babies born alive just like convicted abortionist Kermit Gosnell. The women said that babies would also be murdered by jamming an instrument into the soft spot on their head, thrusting a finger through the throat or “twist[ing] the head off the neck.”

“Sometimes he couldn’t get the fetus out. He would yank pieces, piece by piece,” Edge explained. “I’m talking about the whole floor dirty. I’m talking about me drenched in blood.”

She said that many babies were aborted well past the “legal” limit of 24 weeks gestation.

“A lot of times, we would bring the [bag of] big fetuses that were over age and we would reopen the bag and just look at it,” Edge recalled. “We would be amazed at how big it was.”

According to reports, the women contacted the pro-life organization Operation Rescue for help, and arrangements were made for them to sit down with Mark Crutcher of Life Dynamics for an interview. The women also provided photographs of babies aborted at the facility as proof (caution: graphic).

Following the expose, Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst demanded a full investigation of the abortionist, who is now being revealed as Douglas Karpen of Houston. Karpen operates three abortion facilities in the state, including Aaron Women’s Clinic, where the three women worked.

“In a week when serial murderer Kermit Gosnell was found guilty of killing babies, I read with disgust about the allegations of Houston-based abortionist Douglas Karpen performing illegal late-term abortions surrounded by appalling sanitary conditions in his clinic,” Dewhurst said. “The Harris County authorities should perform a full-scale investigation and take action against those who broke state law.”

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the Department of State Health Services have confirmed that an investigation is underway.

“[W]e’ve assigned folks to it,” Sara Marie Kinney, spokeswoman for District Attorney Mike Anderson, told reporters Thursday. “[W]e’re on it.”

“This is a very high priority for us,” Carrie Williams of the Department of State Health Services said.

The Washington Times reports that NARAL of Texas believes that the matter is simply an attempt to “demonize” abortionists.

“[M]y impression is that this is not a Gosnell situation,” said Director Heather Busby. “I think this is just an attack on late-term abortion providers.”

However, Operation Rescue states that it informed authorities that Karpen has a long history of horrors, including dumping baby body parts into the city sewer system.

“Whether it’s legal or not, it’s not right,” said Maribeth Smith, an employee of a nearby car dealership, who allegedly took photographs after the sewer broke. “This whole area is nothing but raw sewage and bloody pieces. There were little legs coming out from one side.”

Karpen is believed to also be responsible for a series of botched abortions tracing as far back as 1988, including the death of 15-year-old Denise Montoya, who died from hemorrhaging while obtaining an abortion from Karpen.
