‘Thank You, Lord!’ Christian Nurse Rejoices as Paralyzed Patient Surprises Her by Walking Again

MurrillDALLAS, Texas — A teenager recently surprised her Christian nurse as she began walking 11 days after becoming paralyzed from the waist down.

Bailey Murrill, 17, had been wrestling with her father at home earlier this month when she suddenly landed hard on her back and lost feeling in her legs. She was taken to Zale Lipshy University Hospital in Dallas for medical attention, but attempts to regain use of her legs were unsuccessful.

Murrill said that she held to her faith in God during this time.

“The whole time I had this attitude [that] I would leave it in His hands and be prepared for what He decided,” she told the New York Daily News.

Murrill soon also found a friend in one of her nurses who shared Murrill’s Christian faith and became an encouragement to her.

For 11 days, Murrill had no feeling in her legs despite attempts to help her and with no explanation why. But on April 11, while undergoing physical therapy, Murrill suddenly felt a sensation in her legs. Her therapist told her that her hamstring was flexing. She waited to see what would happen.

“[T]he same way the feeling left my legs it returned,” Murrill explained.

She decided to surprise her nurse that day, who did not yet know that she was able to walk again. Murrill had still been paralyzed the day before.

“She had brought me so much joy at a time I needed it that I decided to bring her some,” she said.

When the nurse, whose name has not yet been released, began her shift, the other staff told her that Murrill was looking for her. Murrill’s mother began recording as the teen wheeled herself down the hall in a wheelchair toward her.

But just as the nurse walked up to her with arms wide open, Murrill stood up out of her chair. The nurse let out a scream of surprise.

“Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!” she proclaimed over and over, embracing the teenager as the two cried. “Oh, Jesus.”

“When did this happen?” the nurse asked.

“Today,” Murrill replied.

“I’m so happy for you,” the nurse said. “See there. I told you, just keep that faith.”

Murrill nodded.

The teen’s mother posted the video of the surprise online last Saturday. It has now received over 6 million views.

“Our daughter, Bailey, had complete paralysis from the waist down for 11 days with no explanation as to why,” the description reads. “This video is one of her favorite nurses coming onto her shift and not knowing that Bailey had started walking this day.”

Murrill has since returned home. Doctors still do not know exactly what caused the paralysis.

Thank you Jesus. You are still working Holy Spirit. People will make fun, mock, minimize and even say this is not proof that God is real. God is good and real to this young lady and that’s all that matters.

    • Paul Hiett

So he was good to her when he paralyzed her too?

      • LeftCoast

Yup, she was still alive, has her family, has good nurses to help her and she knew that He was right there next to her the entire time. Now, this might even encourage her more and make her faith stronger along with all the nurses and MDs. So, her miracle did more for her. Thank you Jesus.

        • Paul Hiett

So never mind that he paralyzed her, but yeah God for undoing that which he did!!!!

          Seriously?

          • johnnycab23513

I am constantly amazed, having been saved twice on operating tables by God, how much it bothers some people that there is a power that is stronger than their own over inflated egos. I am praying for you, Paul Hiett.

          • Paul Hiett

So never mind all of those doctors, nurses, and therapists who actually did something…no, let’s praise some mythical deity.

          • Jerry Vinal

its a shame you think that way

          • Paul Hiett

It’s a shame that you don’t give the people who devote their lives to saving others the kind of credit they deserve.

          • AlphaFTW

Paul, first off I’m amused that you have nothing better to do than troll a Christian news site when you don’t believe. Second I’d encourage you to rethink your theology on the matter. Christians don’t believe God allowed or “caused” something like this to happen. That’s such an outdated argument against God it instantly shows me that you’ve never researched anything about Christianity before getting on here and being ignorant. This lines up with what the bible says. That God uses what the devil meant for evil (her paralysis) for His good. He turned it around and showed his miracle power. That being said we should give credit to the doctors and nurses who helped this girl but considering the talent came from God in the first place and the nurse realized that it shows humbleness. My advice? Study a religion a little before you start bashing it making yourself look foolish.

          • Paul Hiett

By all means, tell me how it is that “god” allowed Satan to do this?

          • FoJC_Forever

Interesting that you capitalize Satan, but not God. It’s obvious who is controlling you, Paul. The Darkness fills you. You need to let the Light, Jesus Christ, free you from your blindness.

          • uzza

Well that’s confusing. Paul, I agree, is being a dick, but up above Jerry Vinal says god allowed it to happen, and here you say he didn’t. I don’t understand your point.

          • FoJC_Forever

God doesn’t micro-manage human life. He gave us the ability to think and choose, and placed Good and Evil before us. Those who choose Jesus Christ, receiving His Salvation by the power of His Spirit, are choosing Good. Those who reject Jesus Christ are choosing Evil.

          • Jerry Vinal

He didnt’ paralyze her–He aloud it to happen for a greater good–just hard for people like you to see that

          • FoJC_Forever

            God didn’t paralyze her.

      • The Last Trump

        Still defending Christianity eh, charlatan?
I knew I was going to have a field day with your comment a short time ago about supporting all religions. You just can’t say one nice thing about it even when an article like this is served up to you for just such an occasion. As always, your own words betray you. Looks good on you too.
        Not fooling anybody.

  • sammy13

And for the non-believers in God’s power, what more proof do you need?

    • Paul Hiett

Or…could it be that all of the doctors, nurses, and therapists who spent years of their lives training for things like this were able to apply their hard earned skills and knowledge towards this result?

      • The Last Trump

You mean the CHRISTIAN nurse? Who PRAYED to God for her?
I guess she wouldn’t have bothered with all the praying if it all just boiled down to knowledge and skills, huh?
Thank God for CHRISTIAN nurses and doctors.

        • uzza

Since the same things happen in Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim hospitals, how about we just thank nurses in general.

          • The Last Trump

            Oh they have?
            Please cite examples. Thank you.
Oh speaker in generalities without facts or evidence.

          • uzza

You’re not seriously going to claim things like this don’t happen except to christians. Are you?

        • LadyFreeBird<God'sNotDead

Amen ! We need more of them.

  • Frank

And God even raises the dead – to this day. Go Jesus!!!

  • Loretta Battaglia

Beautiful story — faith as tiny as a mustard seed can still move a mountain — God bless this nurse and God bless this girl who can see that miracles still happen today — Jesus said by his stripes we are healed – he is the same today as he was and will be — give God the Glory — Thank you Jesus — In Jesus mighty name we pray — Amen.
