Texas Defunds Planned Parenthood

AUSTIN, Texas —
Officials in Texas have decided to defund the abortion giant Planned Parenthood, declaring that the state is pulling its Medicaid funding out of belief that the organization is “no longer capable of performing medical services in a professionally competent, safe, legal, and ethical manner.”

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission sent a letter to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast on Monday, providing the entity with a notice of termination.

“[T]here is reliable information indicating a pattern of illegal billing practices by Planned Parenthood affiliates, including you, across the state,” the letter reads. “Our prima facie case of fraud is supported by related cases involving fraudulent practices identified by whistleblowers from inside the Texas Planned Parenthood network.”

It points to two federal lawsuits that had been settled for millions after whistleblowers came forward about false Medicaid claims that had been filed.

Without specifically mentioning the Center for Medical Progress, the Commission also references undercover video footage showing representatives from a Texas Planned Parenthood facility discussing its willingness to alter abortion procedures to remove deceased children whole.

“The videos indicate that you follow a policy of agreeing to procure fetal tissue even if it means altering the timing or method of an abortion. These practices violate accepted medical standards, as reflected in federal law, and are Medicaid program violations that justify termination,” the letter reads.

It further notes that the organization violated safety protocols surrounding the spread of infectious diseases.

“Specifically, you allowed individuals posing as commercial buyers of fetal body parts to handle bloody fetal tissue while wearing only gloves,” the Commission outlines.

Planned Parenthood has 30 days to request a resolution meeting before the termination becomes final.

“Texas has stepped forward and shown its unyielding commitment to both protecting life and providing women’s health services,” said Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Roman Catholic, in a statement following the issuance of the letter.

“The gruesome harvesting of baby body parts by Planned Parenthood will not be allowed in Texas and the barbaric practice must be brought to an end,” he said. “As such, ending the Medicaid participation of Planned Parenthood affiliates in the State of Texas is another step in providing greater access to safe healthcare for women while protecting our most vulnerable—the unborn.”

As previously reported, a video released in August by the Center for Medical Progress captured Melissa Farrell, director of research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, discussing with undercover investigators the “diversification of the revenue stream” over dinner along with a visit to the organization’s pathology lab, where workers sort through the remains of aborted babies.

“If we alter our process and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers, then we can make it part of the budget, that any dissections are this, and splitting the specimens into different shipments is this,” she explained. “I mean, it’s all just a matter of line items.”

That is great but now PP will be more unethical and immoral knowing that they don’t have the guberment on their tail. PP will charge more for each body part. You just gave them the green light to continue the chop shops.

Not only should they not be funded, they should be prosecuted for murder!

    • Ambulance Chaser

      Under what statute?

      • Josey

the statue that if someone murders a pregnant woman, they can be charged with the murder of the unborn. So if the mother who has her unborn child murdered isn’t murdered then at least a new statue for the murdered unborn can be made law. Abortion should never have been legalized in the first place, there was a reason it used to be illegal and it has nothing to do with women healthcare, there are a variety of women healthcare clinics and doctors who can meet those needs without killing the unborn baby and there are plenty of couples who want to adopt if the mother does’t want the baby but to murder the innocent because it isn’t wanted is murder. How bout I come along and decide I don’t want you around so I murder you? How is that any different than abortion? And don’t give me that they are not a baby until the first breath of oxygen is taken, they breathe in the womb, it is fluid not air as God intended it to be.They are little human beings with arms, legs, fingers, toes, a mouth that sucks a thumb, they have a brain, have eyes, ears to hear, a heartbeat which signifies life even at a young gestational age, you can even tell whether it is a boy or girl early on,

Can you try just answering a question without rambling all over the place?

          Is abortion legal or not?

          • afchief

Haven’t we been through this???? Abortion is not legal anywhere in America. There is no Federal Law on the books regarding abortion. None! There is a “Supreme” Court opinion called Roe v Wade, but that is merely an opinion…not a law! They just tell us that it is and we believe them, follow the lie, and teach it to others.

In fact, if you were to ask any judge anywhere to show you the abortion law, he or she would have to refer you to state law because that is the only place you will find any law regarding abortion. In 30 U.S. states abortion is illegal. In the other 20 states it is legal only with exceptions for the life or health of the mother.

Access to abortions of “convenience” is illegal in all 50 states. A “Supreme” Court decision cannot and does not change the law. They just tell us that it does, and we, like gullible subjects, believe them.

Planned Parenthood has been violating the law in all 50 states and should be closed, and all of the directors and abortionists should go to prison as accessories to murder. That is the law of the land, and that is the Truth.

          • Ambulance Chaser

OK, so since in your repetitive copy-and-paste job, you keep insisting that “he or she would have to refer you to state law,” show me the state law that makes abortion illegal.

          • afchief

Look it up, it is there. Also, there is NO law on the federal books stating abortion is legal. NO WHERE!!!!

          • Ambulance Chaser

Well, the 9th and 14th Amendments, as interpreted in Roe v. Wade, say otherwise.

But that doesn’t really get to my point. Things aren’t illegal unless a law somewhere legalizes them. It’s not illegal to eat my breakfast at the kitchen table even though there is no law that says I can. Laws forbid things, they don’t allow things.

          • afchief

And you call yourself a lawyer???????????? LOL!!!

          • Ambulance Chaser

You don’t have to agree with it, but it is law. No matter how many times you stomp your foot and insist that Supreme Court rulings aren’t binding.

          • Josey

            HA…GOOD ONE

          • Josey

you are not looking for a answer, shill

          • Ambulance Chaser

Why don’t you try providing an answer, and then we can decide how receptive I am to one?

          • afchief

He claims to be a lawyer, yet has no clue of how law is made at the federal level. NONE!

      • afchief

        Read Josey’s statement!

  • crusader51

    God Bless Texas!

  • Rebecca

Good for Texas. PP is being exposed for the evil it is.
Just because something has become legal, doesn’t make it right. Abortion is always wrong. Yes, even in the case of rape and health problems. It is heartless to kill a baby.
If you get pregnant because you couldn’t keep your pants on or don’t know how to use birth control…too bad, learn. Don’t kill the baby, put him/her up for adoption and don’t make them pay with their life because you are irresponsible.
I pity those who think Abortion is ok. Shame on them!!!
