‘Call Them Mommy… I’m Gonna Die’: Son’s Chilling Final Texts to Mother During Orlando Shooting

I'm-Gonna-DieORLANDO, FLA. — Mina Justice was fast asleep when she received her son’s chilling text messages. They reveal his final moments before being killed by the gunman who opened fire at a homosexual nightclub in Orlando, which resulted in the deaths of 49 and injury to 50 others.

Here is the conversation Mina had over text message with her 30-year-old son Eddie Justice before he was shot dead:

“Mommy I love you,” the first message said. It was 2:06 a.m.

“In club they shooting.”

Mina Justice tried calling her 30-year-old son. No answer.

Alarmed and half awake, she tapped out a response.

“U ok”

  • Connect with Christian News

At 2:07 a.m., he wrote: “Trapp in bathroom.”

Justice asked what club, and he responded: “Pulse. Downtown. Call police.”

Then at 2:08: “I’m gonna die.”

Now wide awake, Justice dialed 911.

She sent a flurry of texts over the next several minutes.

“I’m calling them now.

U still in there

Answer our damn phone

Call them

Call me.”

The 911 dispatcher wanted her to stay on the line. She wondered what kind of danger her son was in. He was normally a homebody who liked to eat and work out. He liked to make everyone laugh. He worked as accountant and lived in a condo in downtown Orlando.

“Lives in a sky house, like the Jeffersons,” she would say. “He lives rich.”

She knew he was gay and at a club — and all the complications that might entail. Fear surged through her as she waited for his next message.

At 2:39 a.m., he responded:

“Call them mommy

Now.”

He wrote that he was in the bathroom.

“He’s coming

I’m gonna die.”

Justice asked her son if anyone was hurt and which bathroom he was in.

“Lots. Yes,” he responded at 2:42 a.m.

When he didn’t text back, she sent several more messages. Was he with police?

“Text me please,” she wrote.

“No,” he wrote four minutes later. “Still here in bathroom. He has us. They need to come get us.”

At 2:49 a.m., she told him the police were there and to let her know when he saw them.

“Hurry,” he wrote. “He’s in the bathroom with us.”

She asked, “Is the man in the bathroom wit u?”

At 2:50 a.m.: “He’s a terror.”

Then, a final text from her son a minute later: “Yes.”

More than 15 hours after that text, Justice had not heard from her son. She and a dozen family and friends were at a hotel which became a staging area for relatives awaiting news.

“His name has not come up yet and that’s scary. It’s just …” she paused and patted hear heart. “It’s just, I got this feeling. I got a bad feeling.”

She later found out that Eddie Jamoldroy Justice, 30, was among the 49 people killed in the shooting.

The text conversation was the last he had with his mother.

The city of Orlando is keeping a running list of victims on their website.

    Proverbs 29
29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
29:16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
29:17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

13:1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
13:2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
13:4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Jesus responded as though the question was related to the relative sinfulness of the victims, but only in passing. Instead, he diverted the focus onto the interrogators, making it clear that the most urgent issue was not an explanation to their implied question as to why God allowed such a horrible thing to happen to innocent people. Rather, Jesus wanted them to focus on their own souls.

His mention of the fall of the Tower of Siloam added a nuance to his prior point: accidents happen. Therefore, even in the absence of persecution, death can come unexpectedly to anyone, irrespective of how righteous or how sinful they are. He may have been emphasizing that the time granted by God for repentance is limited.

You proved me wrong by calling out Amos Moses on his insensitive comments. Thank you.

          • Slidellman4life

This is not about being Christian or not. This is about compassion. This is about humanity.

And what Amos posted shows absolutely none of this. Of course I am going to say something.

      • hamfish

        Sounds about right, Cady.

        Scripture ………..

        • Slidellman4life

          Missing the point:

          Your post is not appropriate.

These are the last words of a young man who was frightened out of his mind and reaching out to his mother.

          Have some compassion.

          • Amos Moses

Scripture is always appropriate ……………….. and he should also have been reaching out to Christ for the sins he was in the midst of committing at that very moment …… and if he had been with Christ prior to this happening ………… he most likely would still be alive ….. as he would not have been in that den of debauchery ……….. at 2AM …………

Compassion would have been for him to have given up the life of sin he was leading …….. and not have been in a position to be texting his mother at 2AM ……… because he was caught in his own iniquity and web of sins …… and now he stands before God without the protection of Christ ………….. praying Christ shows him some measure of mercy ………..

          • ComeOnPeople!

Amos I usually totally agree with you but I must add my two cents for what it is worth. Many christians are being slain over on foreign soil not for any sins or departure from GOD but because they are HIS. What you quote in scripture is true yet this man created by GOD has no more hope , he cannot repent and turn back to GOD’s ways for once the breath is gone there is no more hope of redemption. GOD is a righteous JUDGE and all of us will stand before HIM. We have no idea what took place before HIS last breaths, only GOD knows this and that man. I totally warn others about disobedience to GOD’s laws and try to shine light that they might repent and return to HIS ways yet this soul can no longer be reached and those who are living who knew him or were family members can be reached still. Yeshua had compassion on those blinded by sin. We do not know HIS fate or if HE turned back to GOD because we do not know HIS last words. I pray HE remembered words that told HIM you don’t have to remain in disobedience to GOD, HE loves you and you can return to HIM and HIS ways. I’m a realist and that hope is doubtful but still I like my FATHER would that none perish. The Messiah can no longer be a mediator for him once breath is gone … I pray he found a place of repentance before he died.

I wish they would have fought back instead of waiting to be killed. Please don’t be sitting ducks, people.

    • KissyJ

Your comment is so insensitive it’s ridiculous. Maybe you should right a book on how to out fight a semi automatic rifle and a handgun in an enclosed space so everyone can have your expert knowledge on not being sitting ducks. Otherwise back up off the keyboard if you don’t have the wits to think before you type.

      • Guest

It wasn’t insensitive. It’s a plea for the LGBT community and other potential victims to think NOW about how to handle this situation should it arise again – and it will arise. I was talking to someone who knows about this kind of thing, and he said with a club full of men, the ones hiding in bathrooms could easily have removed the tank lids and thrown them at the shooter while others rushed and disarmed him. They would at least have stood a chance. In Israel they tell students to throw their books or anything near by at an attacker. People who fight back stand a better chance of survival. Even if they die, they go down with honor. It’s worth a try.

      • ComeOnPeople!

It is proven knowledge that fear prevents people from action and binds them so if you are ready in your mind that no matter what I face I will overcome fear then you can save many around you if you rush people with guns instead of being bound by fear. You have to push your life aside in hopes that you will create a different outcome. If you die you die a hero and others are saved. It’s time to start thinking about others around us and to protect not run or hide. I do not agree with sin but I would die for a sinner… WHY because my FATHER did and I follow HIM.

  • Amos Moses

i hope while he was crying to mother …………. he was also crying to Christ for forgiveness ………… it appears it was his last chance …..

Well now maybe I replied to your posts to soon. Yup sinner and thankful I returned to GOD and HIS ways.

This whole thing stinks, one guy wondering around and no one fighting back, I keep thinking another government inspired attack. The 1st and 2nd amendment under attack and satan’s end goal is to silence Christians who are the light in this world. When he gets that accomplished he will have seven years to wreak havoc on the earth unlike has never been seen or heard of before.

    • hamfish

Anyone who uses a tragedy like this to try and push their religious agenda is a despicable ghoul and should be ashamed of themselves.

  • ComeOnPeople!

We must all purpose in our hearts that should anyone try do do harm to us and others that we will not be overcome by fear but will defend ourselves and others. One man with a gun and hundreds of people? Fear places men in a cage in which they die. Don’t think of self and charge the guy in hopes that others will catch on and many will be saved. One man can not shoot everyone rushing him. The problem also is humans tend to only think of themselves and 1-1-1-1-1-1 you get the point equals ZERO. Stand up for the many if some sick person has in their mind to murder you in a crowd and become 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + not 1- 1- 1- 1-.

  • SFBruce

The shooter in this tragedy had an semi-automatic rifle and a handgun, which gave him the capability to mow down many people in a very, very short period of time. Those who lost their lives were young with their whole lives in front of them. Several acts of heroism and survival have been reported, so it troubles me that some would actually criticize those who died for not doing more to save themselves. None of us knows the exact circumstances these poor souls faced, how they reacted, nor how we would respond ourselves in the same situation.

  • Nidalap

Okay. I’m about to give homosexuals some advice that their current, all-caring government will not. I’d advise keeping a baleful eye upon anyone you know is of the Islamic persuasion.

Pastor Equates Homosexuals to Jesus at Southern Baptist Prayer Event
Posted on June 15, 2016 by Jeff Maples
At the #LoveOrlando Citywide ecumenical prayer-fest, hosted by Southern Baptist Megachurch, FBC Orlando pastored by David Uth, pastor of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, in Orlando Florida, Larry G. Mills, made a rather interesting comment regarding the LGBTQXYZ community in the area. Now, keep in mind, this is the same SBC Church that hosted a Seventh Day Adventist cult member to come preach. In reference to the recent Islamic terrorist attack against our fellow Americans, Mill’s, a Pastor who claims he believes the Word of God, sets aside all Scriptural truth in the name of “love.”

Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens of the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord.… – Ephesians 2:19-21

Well, listen to what Pastor Mills has to say about that: (Video on the youtube machine)

[Transcription] We’re not peculiar because of race or gender or creed. But in Orlando we are peculiar because of E. Pluribus Unum. Out of many come one. We are peculiar because we have leadership that knows how to fight….We are peculiar because we know how to let theological differences and disputes and factions not get in the way of love and Christ. We are peculiar…because we believe in the Word, and what others would have against us, what others would show as a stumbling stone, we’ve elevated to be the head of the corner, and right now, no matter what people [inaudible] might think, that LGBTQ area is the head cornerstone, and we are here to lift up and magnify, and allow them to know, that regardless of people’s opinion, regardless of where we are, love triumphs over evil.

This is blasphemy of the highest level. To claim that a group of people that God abominates (Leviticus 18:22) and who, unless repent of their sin, will not enter the Kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9-10) is in the place of the Son of God himself is to set one’s self up as anti-Christ (2 Thes 2:4). This man has exposed himself as a liar and a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Avoid!

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. – Romans 16:17

The killer was a gay Democrat Muslim, in this case it seems he reaped what he sowed. The wages of sin are death. Homosexuality should be criminalized. Homosexuality is a crime against God and against the Holy Bible. After reading this story I know why God wrote:
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: :26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: :27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
