Chuck Smith, the evangelical pastor who preached the Gospel to a generation of hippies, died on Thursday after battling lung cancer.
He passed away at the age of 86, two years after being diagnosed with the illness.
Smith was the founder of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in California, where he was pastor since 1965. Despite his illness, he still continued to preach and be involved in the running of the church.
