Live Same-Sex ‘Wedding’ to Be Part of New Year’s Tournament of Roses Parade

FloatPASADENA, Calif. — Two homosexual men are set to ‘wed’ on New Year’s Day during the historic Tournament of Roses parade, as they ride a float sponsored by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

Danny Leclair, 45, had submitted an application in October as the foundation was offering a chance to be a part of their float—the organization’s third appearance at the 125-year-old parade. Leclair and his partner, Aubrey Loots, 42, run Studio DNA Salons, a chain of hair salons in the Los Angeles area.

After texting a proposal to Loots, the men were selected five weeks later to be featured on the float that celebrates same-sex “marriage” in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning key parts of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

According to reports, Leclair and Loots will ride a wedding cake-shaped float themed “Dreams come true,” which will also bear the motto “Love is the best protection,” referring to the global AIDS epidemic. The AIDS Healthcare Foundations says that the float is meant to demonstrate “the role marriage can play in reducing HIV infections among gay men.”

The Pasadena Star-News reports that Leclair and Loots “will take their vows before the nearly 500,000 people who will line Colorado Boulevard on January 1 and millions of television viewers watching around the globe.” An unannounced minister is said to be on tap to administer the vows.

Leclair, who hails from South Africa, told ABC News that he also planned to read a quote from the late South African President Nelson Mandela during the event as a tribute.

“Having my relationship recognized legally is already a dream come true,” he stated in a recent news release. “To be able to declare my love to the world at large in hopes of inspiring others to live proudly and authentically is an enormous honor.”

“It’s awe inspiring to be committing your life to another person and to have millions of people bear witness,” Loots added. “I didn’t imagine this happening in my lifetime.”

However, some have characterized the float as propaganda and state that it is indicative of the continued moral downfall of the nation.

“This float is symbolic of proud homosexual sin on parade for the whole nation to see,” Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) told Christian News Network. “This is what America has become.”

LaBarbera said that he believes the float is part of the agenda to desensitize the nation to the homosexual lifestyle, and to work toward acceptance and legitimization.

“It’s an effort by desperate sinners to rationalize their sin,” he explained. “How do you rationalize your sin? You attach it to as many noble things as you can. You call it marriage. You want it in the Tournament of Roses parade. You want it on the Muppets. You want it on every T.V. show that you can.”

“It’s all about forcing—if necessary—people to accept homosexuality as normative, and it will never be normative. It will always be a sin,” LaBarbera said. “But, thank God, it’s a changeable sin.”

He stated that he is concerned about the direction in which the nation is headed, and that fact that America will ring in the new year by flaunting its open rebellion against God.

“God is not mocked,” LaBarbera warned. “The more we celebrate sin, the more we are in danger of [further] declining in this society, because any society that leaves God behind and abandons the natural family and wholesome morality is a society headed for the dustbin of history. And that’s where America is headed, unfortunately.”

    Here is a Psalm that speaks to both the Faithful and Wicked (psalm 101 NKJV)

    1 I will sing of mercy and justice;
    To You, O Lord, I will sing praises.
    2 I will behave wisely in a perfect way.
    Oh, when will You come to me?
    I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
    3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;
    I hate the work of those who fall away;
    It shall not cling to me.
    4 A perverse heart shall depart from me;
    I will not know wickedness.
    5 Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor,
    Him I will destroy;
    The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart,
    Him I will not endure.
    6 My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land,
    That they may dwell with me;
    He who walks in a perfect way,
    He shall serve me.
    7 He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house;
    He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.
    8 Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land,
    That I may cut off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.

      Mt 7: (NKJV)
      21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

      • Modern Versions

        The NKJV is a false bible. Compare scriptures between the KJV and NKJV. This takes time, so be patient.

        Give it your due diligence, and you will see.

          Both are translations of the original languages. There are issues with both versions. Fortunately, the issues are minimal. I use both for different reasons. Overall, neither one is better than the other. If you are a KJV-Only person, then no other translation will be acceptable to you.

        • Sir Tainly

          Between your moniker and your advice “Modern Version” you have already given me a fair share of chuckles.

          No translation is perfect and they all have something going for them IMO.

          When the King James was written it was commonly reviled by nearly every Christian in England. On one side was the Catholics that wanted it to be more Latinized.

          On the other side were the protestants that wanted a version with plain language for the common people.

          In the dedication at the front of many King James versions they plainly said that the version was a compromise between the two.

          Now in spite of what the translation committee of the King James said in regards of itself, many Christians believe it to be the infallible Word of God.

          I don’t actually know your preference, but I try to use the version online that seems to make the most sense to me at the time, along with the consideration of the likely readership.

          Maybe someday I’ll be able to do as you so meekly suggest and put some thought in as to which version I shall utilize.

          In the mean time it may be more productive to consider the verses I share and the translations reliability with them rather than turn it into a conversation about which even outright Biblical scholars would still disagree rather than give me your opinions as to versions. If your favorite version gives a better translation of a particular verse I will enjoy the correction as to the correction’s value.

            From the King James Bible introduction: (MY COMMENTS INSERTED VIA PARENTHESIS AND CAPITAL LETTERS)

            Humbly craving of your most Sacred Majesty (KING JAMES…OF COURSE), that since things of this quality have ever been subject to the censures of ill meaning and discontented persons (HERE THEY IMPLY THAT THEIR CRITICS ARE INHERENTLY FAULTY, MOST LIKELY THE FIRST REFERENCE TO BOTH THE CATHOLICS AND THE PROTESTANTS IN THIS INTRODUCTION. THE CATHOLICS BEING THOSE THEY CALL “ILL MEANING” AND THE MORE INDEPENDENT PROTESTANTS THAT DID NOT WISH TO BE A PART OF THE ANGLICAN CHURCH BEING THE “DISCONTENTED”), it may receive approbation and Patronage from so learned and judicious a Prince as your Highness is, whose allowance and acceptance of our Labors, shall more honor us and encourage us(THEY ARE SAFE BECAUSE THE KING SPONSORED THIS VERSION), then all the calumniations and hard interpretations of other men shall dismay us. So that, if on the one side we shall be traduced by Popish persons at home or abroad, who therefore will malign us, because we are poor Instruments to make GODS holy Truth to be yet more and more known unto the people, whom they desire still to keep in ignorance and darkness: (HERE IT IS: THE PEOPLE WITH CATHOLIC LOYALTIES BEFORE THIS COMMENT VERSES THE PROTESTANTS….SPIRITUAL DEPENDENTS OF A SORT TO THE PILGRIMS OF AMERICAN HISTORY THAT WERE TOO INDEPENDENT TO WANT TO BE A PART OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND AFTER THIS COMMENT) or if on the other side, we shall be maligned by self-conceited brethren, who run their own ways, and give liking unto nothing but what is framed by themselves, and hammered on their Anville; we may rest secure, supported within by the truth and innocence of a good conscience, having walked the ways of simplicity and integrity, as before the Lord; And sustained without, by the powerful Protection of your Majesties grace and favor, which will ever give countenance to honest and Christian endevors, against bitter censures, and uncharitable imputations.

            The King James Version was very important to the church of England because it was a major step in establishing the Anglican Church as it’s own entity.

            But it is foolish IMO to say it is either pure or without fault.

            It is…based on the introduction…not a product of pure scholarship….but instead a compromise between two extremes that served a political goal.

    This is a family event……..this is NOT an adult choice to come and watch. This must be stopped at once it brings danger and to much controversy to the families and children in the community as well. This is a very SAD thing this is destroying the history of the Rose Parade the wholesome family event.

  • Mother

    This is a wholesome family event it’s history, the Gays want to destroy everything there will be many children thinking
    That this is normal and it’s NOT……..I urge the community to STOP this action as is poses a danger to all of the community as well the shameless men that are doing this. The City of Pasadena needs to step in and protect the children from anyone that may cause an uproar. Or anyone wanting to cause any harm to this action. I urge all whom

    • Flying Spaghetti Monster

      I find it very intriguing that it seems to be ONLY “Mother” whose thoughts turn immediately to violence as a logical response to something as non-threatening as 2 adults professing love. In fact it’s almost as if she’s – dare I say it – almost willing it. I was under the impression that Jesus approved of love and abhored violence.

  • Mark

    I would hope the fans in attendance would stand up and turn their backs on the gay float and that HGTV would not even dare to show the deviant ‘marriage.’

    • Mark

      I didn’t watch it. I was too busy using my day off work to sleep-in.

  • Karate Kathleen

    This makes me literally sick to my stomach! It’s completely inappropriate for a zillion reasons. To James and Sir Tainly, I just got the Orthodox Study Bible and I really like it. It pretty much goes word for word with KJV but it also has all these wonderful crib notes at the bottom of the pages that explain so much, based on Orthodox church records/traditions. Plus it includes several other books not included in the KJV that give more insight. Also, got some really cool bible tab stickers at Cheap and comes in a lot of colors. Peace bros…

    • Sir Tainly

      I have stated that I hope for good to come of it Kathleen, but I’ll think about what you are saying.

      Read what you like and it’s cool with me. This prolly wasn’t a great place to be talking about the relative merits of different versions, even if I do feel that the KJV is fine even if some overrate it to an unreasonable degree.

      For whatever it’s worth…I think that I managed to respond to “Modern Versions” attempted admonition and instruction of me….How’d I do? 😀

      I’ll try my best to keep Jimmy and I on some kind of track, but the man has been insulting me steadily, and even them he requires being answered as to the insults, doctrines, & directives he gives out IMO.

      OK, done for now.

  • Flying Spaghetti Monster

    I remember when I was little D-I-V-O-R-C-E used to be a sin. Now it’s fully accepted. Even pastors and ministers are routinely divorced and remarried. When did this suddenly and conveniently become OK with those who claim to follow the Bible?

  • Sir Tainly

    Oops, I think that I misunderstood exactly what you were sickened by….oops.

    Now I’m going to go an enjoy my irrevocable case of foot in mouth disease. 😀

    USA – from Puritans to Impure-itans

    Any connection between beautiful New England and predicted disasters?
    Take same-sex marriage. I would have guessed that a “sin” city (San Francisco? Las Vegas?) would have been the first to legalize it.
    Oddly it’s been America’s birthplace that’s wanted to be the first place to end America and its values! It’s been a Nor’easter of Perversion (helping to fulfill Luke 17’s “days of Lot”) that began in (you guessed it) Boston in 2004!
    New England has gone from the Mayflower Compact to the Gay Power Impact, from Providence to decadence, from Bible thumpers to God dumpers, from university to diversity to perversity, and from the land of the Great Awakening to God’s Future Shakening that’ll make the Boston bombings look like Walden Pond ripples by comparison!
    The same Nor’easter has been spreading south and as far west as Washington State where, after swelling up with pride, Mt. Rainier may wish to celebrate shame-sex marriage by having a blast that Seaddlepated folks can share in lava-land!
    The same Luke 17 prediction is tied to the Book of Revelation which speaks of the cities that God will flatten because of same-sexism – including American cities – a scenario I’ll have to accept since I can’t create my own universe and decree rules for it.
    I’ve just been analyzing the world’s terminal “religion” that has its “god,” its accessories, its “rites,” and even a flag. It’s an obsession that the infected converts are willing to live for, fight for – and even die for!
    Some claim that Jesus never mentioned homosexuality. Well, when gays have birthdays they don’t say what they don’t want but say positively what they do want.
    Likewise Jesus didn’t get negative and mention every sexual variation that He knew mankind would invent, but stated positively that marriage involves only a man and a woman!
    Want more facts? Google “God to Same-Sexers: Hurry Up,” “Government-Approved Illegals,” “FOR GAYS ONLY: Jesus predicted,” “Filthy Still Club (Rev. 22:11),” and “The Background Obama Can’t Cover Up.”
