Video Surfaces of Christians Singing ‘Who Makes Nations Tremble?’ at Moment Earthquake Rocked Nepal

KATHMANDU, Nepal — A video has surfaced online of Christians singing about God making the nations tremble at the exact moment that the earthquake rocked the country on Monday.

Three young men had begun singing the hymn “Almighty, Unchangeable God” at a house church meeting.

“Who spread out the clouds before Him? Who fashioned the earth with His hands?” the men sang. “Who created the starry host and formed the earth at His command?”

The congregation sat listening quietly.

“Who scatters lightning before Him? Commands the rain and snow to fall?”

“Who makes the nations tremble?” they sang.

At the exact moment the men sang the line, the room began to shake.

“Earthquake,” one woman said calmly to the others, but her voice gaining urgency as she repeated the word. “Earthquake. Earthquake!”

Second later, screams rang out as the room shook. The Christians called upon the name of the Lord.

“Let’s pray!” one called out.

“Lord, You are there!” another said.

“Jesus! Jesus!” a third proclaimed.

Within a minute, the ground stopped shaking and the people calmly moved outside.

Jason and Charity Woon, a missionary couple that lives in Nepal, posted the footage to their Facebook page on Thursday.

“I have no words to describe this video,” they wrote. “It holds such a wide range of emotions for me. ‘He makes the nations to tremble.’ Read the words. Watch what happens when they reach the word ‘tremble.'”

The couple has been helping with aid in the country following the earthquake, along with other Christians in the region.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake is said to have resulted in over 6,000 deaths with many still missing.

Apparently someone took that a little bit too literally.

      Not ‘someone’….God.

      • Paul Hiett

6300 people are dead, and you “credit” your deity.

        Honestly, I’m not surprised.

        • FoJC_Forever

God is everyone’s Deity, even those who don’t believe He exists.

        • Josey

That’s because you do not understand God or His ways, life does not cease to exist at physical death, we are eternal beings and many who died physically are with God rejoicing and their trials and sufferings are over as they enjoy Heaven now. You only think in terms of this temporary life, sad for you.

I really dislike how most of the Christian sites are acting as if the 6000+ people killed don’t matter since most aren’t Christian. Charisma news did an entire article about the 600 Christians killed without even acknowledging the remainding thousands.

    • Paul Hiett

And I’m willing to bet many bibles are being shipped over there in lieu of things that are actually needed.

Those people don’t care about religion right now, they care about their family, their friends, and their future.

      • Bobby Mae

Yepp, it’s pretty sick even reading that God caused this because they arent a Christian nation.

        • Josey

and where did you read that statement from, anyone who would say that clearly doesn’t understand that troubles come to all, whether Christian or not. Just so much better to have God to turn to for strength in times of trouble for He is a refuge to those who rely and trust in Him during times of trouble. I know this from my own experience!

Their families. Their friends. And their futures.
        Hence the Bibles. Duh!
What did you thing they were for?
        Atheists!….just don’t get it!

      • WorldGoneCrazy

Not in lieu of, but in addition to:

“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”

        Go ahead, Paul: mock Jesus.

Through the Jesus character the rulers are talking to YOU (them), Crazy :

He answered, To you [the rulers] it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven [Cosmos], but to them [YOU] it has not been given. The reason I speak to them [YOU] in parables is that “seeing they [YOU] do not perceive, and hearing they [YOU] do not listen, nor do they [YOU] understand.” – Matthew 13:11,13

      • Josey

you have no idea what is being shipped, get over yourself!

      • christy

& I’m willing to bet you aren’t helping in ANY way. Also I’m certain the Christians & Jews are giving as much food, water AND spiritual comfort as they possibly can…In the NAME OF THE LORD. They’re too busy helping & healing hurting hearts to go online & criticize & complain while people who CARE get into ACTION. You can send donations to help too.

        • WorldGoneCrazy

Yes, indeed, it is a proven fact that the godless and liberals (pardon me for being redundant) give far less time, treasure, and talent to charitable causes. Google: “Statistics on whether atheists are more moral than religious people” It should come up to a Wintery Knight posting with peer-reviewed data.

    • Tangent001

Yep. 21 Coptic Christians are executed by ISIS in Egypt and it’s a ‘Christian Genocide’!

A hundred Shia Muslims killed by ISIS every day? Meh.

  • Tangent001

    Those bastards! They caused it!

  • Leslie

I really dislike how many anti Christian bashers show up and lie about us, but that’s for another day. I haven’t seen any Christian sites not mentioning 6000+ and since it is the Jews and Christian groups up there with food, water, surgery tents (Israels IDF saved 15 with surgeries yesterday) I’m wondering if you keyboard warriors have donated? All the churches are looking for donations for Nepal. Have you done anything to help? It’s crazy how many Christianophobes hop right on to bash us without doing anything themselves. All that calling out for Jesus though, good idea, their building look pretty intact.

The Foundation Beyond Belief’s Humanist Disaster Recovery team is raising funds to help victims and families in Nepal. They’ve already sent a $12,000 donation.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation is sending a $10,000 donation.
      As of yesterday.

      • The Last Trump

        Praise the Lord!
He even uses atheists to do His bidding! 😉

  • FoJC_Forever

Those who might be sending Bibles will not replace food, water, and other physical necessities with them, despite what the condescending Unbelievers may say. If they are sent, and I can’t believe they would not be sent, they will accompany needed supplies.

Don’t forget what Jesus told us. Those who shake their fist at God, either literally or with their words, are wandering in Darkness, blind to their broken, lost condition.

        You are twisting Scripture.

        • Croco Dile

The most historically illogical aspect of Christianity’s origin, however, was its Messiah. Jesus had a political perspective that was precisely the opposite of the son of David, who was awaited by the Jews of this era. Josephus records that what most inspired the Jewish rebels was their belief in the Judaic prophesies that foresaw a world ruler, or Messiah, emerging from Judea – the same prophecies that the New Testament claims predicted a pacifist.

“….this is really the reason you pay taxes; for taxgatherers are ministers of God, devoting their energies to this very work.”- Rom. 13:2-6

A Roman origin would explain why the bishop of Rome was later made the supreme pontiff of the church. And why Rome became its headquarters. It would explain how a Judean cult eventually became the state religion of the Roman Empire. A Roman origin would also explain why so many members of a Roman imperial family, the Flavians, were recorded as being among the first Christians. The Flavians would have been among the first Christians because, having invented the religion, they were, in fact, the first Christians.

          • FoJC_Forever

Jesus isn’t a pacifist. Jesus is the personification of Faith, Hope, and Love.

Josephus didn’t write Scripture and is not a reliable source to know God’s Will or His Word, Jesus (the) Christ.

Romans 13:2-6 isn’t referring to every government on the planet, just those whose laws protect the weak and innocent (prey), while punishing those who do harm to others (predators). As well, God isn’t against fair taxation in nations whose governments use it responsibly. Unfair taxation is tyranny.

Catholicism is not and has never been representative of Christianity and Jesus (the) Christ. The Romans didn’t invent God nor Jesus (the) Christ, nor Christianity.

You’re slick, but the veneer of your lying corruption is transparent to the Truth.

This extremely irresponsible of ‘Christian News’ to report this incident, or coincidence in this manner!! Are you trying to say that God caused this earthquake to happen because they were singing this song??? If you are trying to say that, then what testimony is that giving to the millions of people in Nepal that have just faced death and destruction. I can’t stand it that every time there is a calamity, God’s name gets drugged in to the picture either because Chrisitans say it is because a nation will not repent of their sins and He is trying to teach them a lesson, or that he will bring revival through a calamity. Let’s quit smearing God’s name please!! He is a loving God that has absolutely no desire to wipe out any nation by a calamity no matter how sinful that nation is!!!

Phobes of Jesus followers, live and let live! Followers of Jesus, quit beating a dead horse. This is not the forum to try and change hearts. These comment fields become nothing more than vitriolic spewing from both sides. So, so unproductive. Followers of Jesus, Isaiah 53: 3-1 Truth needs no defense and being defensive will win you nothing! We plant, we water but God gives the increase.
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”

And did you notice, not one of them perished or was harmed. Praise HIM! There is power in the NAME of JESUS!!!
