A Baptist church in Texas has made Planned Parenthood part of its missions budget, and hosted a seminar last evening to further provide support.
Lake Shore Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, led by Dorisanne Cooper, formed what it calls a “covenant group” that pledges to be be active in providing resources to the abortion giant. On a section of its website entitled, “Missions Table,” Lake Shore outlines its advocacy of the organization.
“The Lake Shore Baptist Church’s Covenant Group for Planned Parenthood supports the local affiliate, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas,” the page states. “The Covenant Group at Lake Shore is committed to support the efforts of our local affiliate by keeping the congregation informed about the mission and operations of Planned Parenthood and by encouraging direct support, as members are able. The Group invites others to join in our support of our local Planned Parenthood affiliate.”
After listing the ten families associated with the covenant group, the webpage provides further information about Lake Shore’s participation in the work of Planned Parenthood. It lists that the “Planned Parenthood mission group” seeks “1) to be informed about the work and the ministry of Planned Parenthood, 2) to be in prayer for the patients, staff and volunteers at Planned Parenthood, 3) to be a source of information about Planned Parenthood’s medical services to the congregation of Lake Shore Baptist Church, 4) to inform the congregation of opportunities to serve patients at Planned Parenthood in Waco [and] 5) to encourage the members of the congregation at Lake Shore to share their resources including time, talents, money and influence in ways that facilitate the mission and medical services provided by Planned Parenthood.”
The group’s covenant goals are then expounded, which include volunteering at the local Planned Parenthood facility, attending meetings and events hosted by the abortion giant and encouraging others within the congregation to donate funds and volunteer their time with Planned Parenthood.
Wednesday evening, Lake Shore Baptist hosted a seminar entitled, “Standing Up for Planned Parenthood: Why Healthy Texas Women and Families Matter.” The event was headlined by Pam Smallwood, the Chief Administrative Officer of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas.
“Pam, Roy and their daughters, Kate and Emily, are part of the Lake Shore family, even though they no longer call Waco home,” Lake Shore’s newsletter stated, announcing the event. “Pam has for many years played an important role in helping Lake Shore to understand women’s health and the role that it plays in healthy families. She will share some of her voluminous knowledge of these current events and policy decisions as they affect everyday women and the decades old programs, many of which have already been cut.”
Later in the publication, Lake Shore outlined that other organizations it supports through covenant groups include Friends for Life, Lake Shore Baptist Children’s Center, Shalom Children’s Center in Ghana, Africa and the Talitha Koum Nurture Center, a preschool located in Waco.
“The Planned Parenthood in Central Texas reads like the who’s who in this community. They do not appear like the typical, radical pro-aborts. They go to church and are well respected by the elite in our community,” explained Rusty Thomas of Elijah Ministries in Waco. “Behind this shiny respectable veneer, however, lurks a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Lake Shore Baptist Church, one of the religious coverings of child sacrifice and the shedding of innocent blood in Waco, is what the Bible would term a ‘synagogue of Satan.'”
“Revelations 2:20-23 pinpoints the spirit of Jezebel that inhabits this church and their support of Planned Parenthood,” he continued, quoting from Scripture. “‘Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.”
Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas has locations in Waco, Fort Worth, Dallas and Austin.
