Wilmington, Delaware — A Planned Parenthood facility in Delaware has been closed pending an investigation as authorities are seeking to determine why numerous women have been rushed to the hospital in recent months while obtaining abortions at the facility.

Five women have been transported to the emergency room over a five week period, and five employees have left the facility. Two of the former abortion assistants at Planned Parenthood of Delaware are now speaking out about their experience, stating that the operation was a “meat-market style of assembly-line abortions.”

“[The operating table was] not washed down; it’s not even cleaned off,” former employee Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich told reporter Wendy Saltzman at local television station ABC-6. “It had bloody drainage on it.”

“They were using instruments on patients that were not sterile,” added former assistant Joyce Vasikonis. “[The women] could be at risk of getting hepatitis, even AIDS.”

“I felt I could be held liable if a patient was harmed,” she said, explaining why she left Planned Parenthood.

Calls to 911 indicate that the women that were rushed to the emergency room in recent months had serious complications.

“Is the fact that she is unconscious a sudden or unexpected change in her usual condition?” asks an emergency operator.

“Yes,” the Planned Parenthood employee answers.

“Is she breathing normally?” he then inquires.

“No,” the employee replies.

“[A] patient is not reacting to a sedation that we gave her, and she pretty much passed out,” a woman explains in a call for a separate incident.

Pro-life citizens across the country are now demanding that the facility be shut down.

Mary Peterson from the Delaware Department of Health and Human Services told reporters that the department does not have enough manpower to perform routine inspections, so officials only come knocking when there is a complaint. She states that an investigation took place last October, but no dangers were identified.

“We do not tolerate employees that fail to meet our standards for patient care and services,” stated new Planned Parenthood of Delaware CEO Ruth Lytle-Barnaby. “We are confident patient care is high quality, but if we identify any additional issues with our quality of services we are prepared to take swift action. Any employee who does not live up to our standards of patient care will be terminated. Patient health and safety has always been and remains our top priority.”

She asserted that the facility provides breast cancer screenings, as well as “birth control, prevention and treatment of STDs, pap tests, sexual health education, abortion and health counseling to more than 11,000 women, men and teens in all three Delaware counties.”

However, as previously reported, attorney Casey Mattox with Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) says that legally, Planned Parenthood cannot perform mammograms without a license, and no facility nationwide has been issued any permits. He explained that the Mammogram Quality Standards Act demands that “[n]o facility may conduct an examination or procedure…involving mammography” without certification from the Food and Drug Administration.

Mattox stated that he personally wrote to Obama’s Health and Human Services Department to request copies of all mammogram permits for Planned Parenthood facilities across the country, and was told that none exist.

“In response to your information request, we have performed a thorough and diligent investigation of our records,” the response letter outlined. “Unfortunately, our search did not uncover any documents pertinent to your request.”

The Delaware facility is stated to be undergoing a “cleaning” at this time. Cheryl Sullenger with Operation Rescue said that she would not be surprised if the facility turns out to be similar to Kermit Gosnell’s ‘House of Horrors’ in Philadelphia.

“This is the same behavior of cover-up that Kermit Gosnell engaged in,” she explained. “After Karnamaya Monger was killed during an abortion, he had the clinic cleaned and painted. But it didn’t take long before it was back to its previous squalid condition.”

Planned Parenthood of Delaware was also in the news recently as a 63-year-old grandmother was attacked while videotaping one of the emergency situations at the facility with her cell phone.
