A jihad recruitment video released by the Islamic terror group al-Shabab features footage of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump calling for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration into the U.S.
The nearly hour-long video includes remarks from former al-Shabab leader Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed during a drone strike in 2011.
“Take heed and learn from the lessons of history. There are ominous clouds gathering in your horizon,” he says. “Yesterday America was a slang of slavery, segregation, lynching and Ku Klux Klan. Tomorrow it will be a land of religious discrimination and concentration camps.”
The production then cuts to footage of Trump’s speech at a South Carolina campaign rally as he calls for a ban on Muslim immigration.
“And so remember this,” he says. “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the [expletive] is going on.”
Trump’s use of profanity is bleeped out, and the video return to al-Awlaki.
“The West will eventually turn against its Muslim citizens,” he says.
According to reports, the video also calls for persons of color to convert to Islam due to perceived racial discrimination in America, citing the Michael Brown and Walter Scott cases.
While some state that the use of Trump’s statement in the video proves Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s point that speech against Muslims will be used by jihadists to recruit more terrorists, others such as Stephen Miller of The Wilderness note that Clinton herself was also used in the production along with members of Black Lives Matter.
“Hi media. Know who else is in that Al Shabaab recruitment video with Trump? Hillary Clinton & Black Lives Matter,” he Tweeted on Saturday.
“Apparently it only matters when a right-winger is used for ‘recruitment’ in a terrorist video because it helps the left because that’s when the media runs to prove them right. But when Obama or Hillary or black activists are used for recruitment, they ignore it,” commented the site The Right Scoop.
“If Trump just hadn’t said that the U.S. should stop Muslim immigration, you see, which he said because of jihad terror, then there would be no jihad terror — right?” facetiously asked Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch.
Al-Shabaab, being translated, means “The Youth.” It states that its goal is to wage war against the “enemies of Islam” and is recognized by the United States and several other countries as a terrorist organization. The group is believed to have been formed in 2006 and is affiliated with al Qaeda and the Islamic Courts Union.
