An evangelist with Jeremiah Cry Ministries is leading a 10-week ‘Cross Canada Tour’ to spread the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the country.

Chris Sippley of New Brunswick, Canada, who conducts evangelistic outreach locally and throughout the United States, says that this is his first full tour of the nation.

“While I am originally from Canada and have preached in three or four provinces in the eastern part of the country where I am from, I had never even seen anything west of Ontario before this tour,” he told Christian News Network. “Two members of our team from the USA have never preached in any part of Canada until now.”

Sippley is traveling cross-country with his wife and two young children, as well as a family from his church, Providence Christian Church in New Brunswick. Mike Stockwell and Robert Gray of Cross Country Evangelism have also been along for the trip, and local Christians have likewise joined the team for the day to help distribute Gospel literature or witness one-on-one with passersby.

“Our burden is that God would be glorified through the public proclamation of the Gospel, that souls would be saved, and that the fire to carry out the Great Commission would spread throughout the Church,” he explained. “We are very concerned about the state of this country and its swift fall into depravity and ruin, namely the godless indifference, militant homosexuality, unrestricted murder of babies, subjective laws governing freedom of speech and worldly ‘Christianity.’”

So far, the group has traveled to Moncton, Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Steinbach and Calgary, and plans to continue to head west to Vancouver, Saskatoon, Edmonton and other regions.

“As expected, we’ve seen mixed reactions,” Sippley explained, “receiving both encouragement and criticism from professing believers, cold indifference and hateful anger from the hard-hearted, interest and contrition from those whom the Spirit of God seems to be drawing, along with many opportunities to edify the saints into a deeper understanding of the Gospel we adore.”

He said that although there have been those who have rejected the preaching of the Gospel, one of his most favorite memories so far from the tour was when a group of  interested youth requested copies of the Bible.

“Along the way we’ve seen effects of God’s Spirit at work in people’s hearts. On one occasion, one of our team members had been preaching in a busy market area, and after stepping down, he was met by a group of about 15 interested students who listened intently as he explained the Gospel more fully to them,” Sippley recalled. “All of the students wanted to receive Bibles as a result of the encounter.”

While some may not understand the work of an evangelist, and why men would spend 10 weeks preaching outside of a church, Sippley says that he is compelled by his love for both God and man to see the people of Canada come to the knowledge of the truth.

“We are motivated to preach by love for our King, because He is worthy for His Name to be proclaimed to the ends of the earth and to be exalted for His glorious saving grace. We are motivated by love for humanity, made in the image of God, that they would be reconciled unto their Creator and give Him the worship and honor He is due,” he said. “As Christians, we know the message of the Gospel is true, because we’ve all been enemies of God, dead in our sins, enslaved to the domain of darkness and know the power of God unto Salvation. We want that for the lost.”

The “Cross Canada” tour will continue throughout the country until August 31st.
