Man Who Shot NYC Cops Dead Posted Koran’s Command to ‘Strike Terror Into Enemies of Allah’

Brinsley KoranNEW YORK — The gunman who snuffed out the lives of two New York City police officers on Saturday in a revenge killing for the incidents in Ferguson and New York had posted text from the Koran on Facebook earlier this year, reports state.

Ismaaiyl Abdulla Brinsley has been identified as the suspect in the shooting deaths of officers Wenjin Liu and Raphael Ramos, who were shot execution style as their sat in their police car Saturday afternoon. Brinsley, who lives in Baltimore, Maryland, had shot his ex-girlfriend at approximately 5:45 a.m. in Owings Mills before driving to New York in an intentional plot to assassinate two random police officers.

He posted about his intentions on his ex-girlfriend’s Instagram account prior to the attack, uploading a photograph of a pistol and writing, “I’m putting wings on pigs today.”

“They take 1 of ours. Let’s take 2 of theirs,” Brinsley wrote, adding the hashtags #ShootThePolice #RIPEricGardner #RIPMikeBrown

“This may be my final post,” he warned. “I’m putting pigs in a blanket.”

Another photograph featured what is believed to be Brinsley’s leg, and shows a blood stain on his camouflage clothing.

According to CBS Baltimore, the girl’s mother alerted police that Brinsley had made the posts on her Instagram account, and Baltimore authorities faxed a wanted flier to the NYPD to warn them about the gunman. However, Brinsley was already on the streets of New York at this time carrying out his attack.

“At approximately 2:45 this afternoon, Baltimore authorities sent a fax,” NYC Police Commissioner Bill Bratton stated in a press conference Saturday. “Unfortunately, it was essentially at the same time our officers were being ambushed and murdered by Brinsley.”

Officers Liu and Ramos were shot in the head without warning or provocation as they sat in a parked car in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of the city.

“They were, quite simply, assassinated—targeted for their uniform,” Bratton said.

Brinsley then ran to an area subway platform, where he committed suicide. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.

While the suspect’s Facebook account has been removed, those who were able to visit the page before its deactivation noted that Brinsley had posted a photograph of a page from the Koran on March 17th, and also listed “Arabic” as one of his spoken languages. The verses are those that are often cited to condone Islamic Jihad.

“Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know,” the verse read. “Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.”

Brinsley had a past criminal record in Georgia, but is believed to also have had ties in Brooklyn.

“When a police officer is murdered, it tears at the foundation of our society,” commented Mayor Bill DeBlasio. “It is an attack on the very concept of decency.”
