DAVIS, Calif. — The University of California’s Davis campus is now making the morning-after pill available to students via a vending machine installed in its Activities and Recreation Center.

Called the “Wellness to Go” vending machine, students can insert $30 to obtain emergency Plan B. Condoms and other sexual products are also offered, as well as pregnancy tests, feminine hygiene products, allergy medicine and pain relievers.

“I think these are just basic resources that students need on campuses,” Senior Parteek Singh, 21, who had advocated for the installation of the machine, told the Sacramento Bee. “Most college students are sexually active … and these resources should be provided to them.”

He said that the idea was spurred by fellow students who told him that sometimes the town’s only 24-hour pharmacy runs out of Plan B and it might take a few days to restock it.

The university initially declined the idea, and offered instead to make contraception available in its bookstore. However, Singh opined that the arrangement would make students feel uncomfortable as they would have to make a face-to-face purchase from their peers.

Georgia Savage of Associated Students of UC Davis, who supports the new vending machine, told the Sacramento Bee that while students can obtain contraceptives at the Student Health and Wellness Center, they would rather have “judgment-free space” and be anonymous.

“It’s just a machine. It’s not going to give you any look or anything,” Singh stated.

Reports of the contraception dispenser have generated a variety of opinions.

“The liberals would have you believe that women cannot get any health services in Planned Parenthood if funding was interrupted,” one commenter wrote. “This shows that women are not limited to get the products they might need from a place other than an abortion mill that wants all tax-paying Americans to fund them.”

“This will soon be the next ‘benefit’ that will be covered by the taxpayer because not every girl can afford the $30 after a one night quickie,” another stated.

“Reason #100 why my daughter is going to school in the south. And she got into UC Davis,” a third remarked.

1 Thessalonians 4:3 reads, “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication, that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor—not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God.”
