NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WJBF) — A North Augusta family is rebuilding after a fire left them without a home.

The family lost everything, including their two dogs, but among all the rubble one thing remained.

“I will never leave you or forsake you, and He hasn’t left us, ” homeowner Wendy Crawley told WJBF NewsChannel 6.

Crawley says she was on her way home when she saw her life go up in smoke. Wet pages and minor smoke damage, but her Bible survived the fire that destroyed the home and just about everything in it.

“Laying on my night stand, is where I kept it,” Crawley said. “It was the only thing I found that we really needed.”
