Internationally-recognized actor Will Smith has been given the go-ahead to produce a film based on the Biblical battle of two brothers.
However, according to reports, Smith’s “epic re-telling of the Biblical sibling tale” of Cain and Abel will have “a vampire twist.” Many entertainment reporters are scratching their head as to what this exactly means, and some Christian movie-goers already have concerns.
The film, entitled The Redemption of Cain, is said to be written by Smith’s brother-in-law, and will be produced under the actor’s label, Overbrook Entertainment. Sony Pictures will release and market the film.
While no release date or production date has been announced as of yet, it is stated that the movie will be shot in London, Jordon and Morocco.
Other Biblically-inspired films are currently geared for production in Hollywood, including Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and Steven Speilberg’s Gods and Kings, which is reportedly based on the life of Moses.
Smith, who was born and raised Baptist in West Philadelphia, is most known for his role in the 90’s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He also starred in the films Men in Black, I Am Legend and The Pursuit of Happyness (sic).
