Springdale, Arkansas — Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of the popular TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting have teamed up with several national evangelical organizations to launch a new website that provides a number of resources for the pro-life cause.
Michelle states that she felt moved to do something about the abortion holocaust in America after visiting a Jewish Holocaust museum in Washington, D.C..
“A couple of weeks after we went to the Holocaust Museum, it dawned on us that there is a holocaust taking place right here in America!” she exclaimed.
Following the experience, the Duggar family began to pray about what they could do to take a stand for life. They called Dan Pennell, CEO of WMtek, who worked with the Duggars to form a pro-life coalition.
The result is LifeUnited, a group of eight Christian organizations that have linked together to work to fight abortion in the nation. The team includes Life International, Learn, Inc., Liberty Counsel, Living Waters, National Center for Life and Liberty, Family Research Council, The Justice Foundation, and the Duggar family.
The first effort of LifeUnited is the launch of a new website, simply LifeUnited.org, which serves as a resource to help motivate others to get involved in the fight for the unborn. LifeUnited.org features a number of articles about the sanctity of human life, as well as a section called “What does the Bible say?” which features posts that outline Scriptures that reference the unborn.
“Although the specific word ‘abortion’ does not appear in the Bible, it does discuss when life begins, the value of human life, and that the taking of an innocent human life is a sin,” the site explains in a post written by Liberty Counsel. “Consider Psalm 139:13-16, ‘For You created me in my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful; I know that full well.'”
LifeUnited.org also provides video resources such as the film 180 by Ray Comfort’s Living Waters, The Ransom Story, and a special message from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
“This site is a powerful vehicle to express our hearts,” Michelle said. “We want every American to know that each child is a special creation of God being formed in their mother’s womb.”
The Duggars, who have 19 children and two in heaven from miscarriages, are strong advocates of allowing God to plan a couple’s family.
“[W]e agreed we would stop using any form of birth control and let God decide how many children we would have,” they explain. “At first, our families had a lot of concerns for Michelle’s health and how would we be able to take care of and support our family. But over the years, they have warmed up to the idea and have been understanding about our heart commitment to love children like God loves children.”
