Ultrasound Captures Baby Smiling in the Womb

LeoENGLAND — An ultrasound image showing a seven month old baby smiling in the womb is drawing amazement as it clearly captures the child’s distinct and happy grin.

The ultrasound was taken when mother Amy Cregg, 24, went to Babybond Ultrasound Direct in Burnley for a 4D scan at 31 weeks. The increasingly popular form of ultrasound uses photographs taken from a number of angles to produce a remarkably clear video of the child on the screen.

Cregg told reporters that when she saw the image of her son smiling from ear to ear, she was taken aback.

“[We] were absolutely shocked,” she said, referring to her boyfriend as Clegg is an unwed mother. “Even the people who did my scan were amazed.”

Babybond Ultrasound Direct agreed.

“Our sonographer who scanned Amy and her gorgeous baby was overwhelmed at her smiley baby throughout the entire scan,” they told The Telegraph. “I think we can safely say that Amy’s baby has been the smiliest baby we’ve ever seen.”

Clegg says that her baby boy named Leo, who was born on June 30, has been smiling ever since.

“After he was born, he was always smiling, even in his sleep,” she told reporters.

A modeling agency who saw photographs of the smiling infant even offered to use the child as a model, but Clegg is holding off for now.

“I’d be interested in him doing modeling but only when he’s older,” she said.
