SUNY Albany Cancels Basketball Game in North Carolina Due to Govt. Travel Ban Over ‘Bathroom Bill’

ALBANY, N.Y. — Officials at SUNY Albany cancelled the university’s basketball game with Duke University this past week in light of the New York governor’s ban on non-essential government travel to North Carolina.

As previously reported, in late March, following controversy over North Carolina’s Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, which requires those who identify as transgender to present their birth certificate before using restrooms in government buildings that correlate with their “gender identity,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo banned non-essential government travel to the state.

“Whereas the state of North Carolina has enacted legislation to bar transgender persons from using bathrooms and changing facilities corresponding to such persons’ gender identities,” the order read in part, “I, Andrew M. Cuomo, … do hereby order and direct all agencies, departments, boards, authorities and commissions … to bar any such publicly funded or publicly sponsored travel to such location, unless such travel is necessary for the enforcement of New York State law, to meet prior contractual obligations, or for the protection of public health, welfare, and safety.”

As the SUNY system is state-funded public university, it is subject to Cuomo’s order. Therefore, SUNY Albany officials have cancelled the basketball team’s upcoming game against Duke University in Durham on Nov. 12.

“The State University of New York supports Governor Cuomo’s executive order banning all non-essential travel to the state of North Carolina,” SUNY spokesperson Holly Liapsis told the Herald-Sun. “We instructed our campuses to immediately review any existing travel plans by faculty and staff. SUNY and its campuses continue to support the governor on taking this stand.”

Duke must now find a new opponent for the game. SUNY Albany’s field hockey team will not play Duke either while North Carolina’s law is in place.

The SUNY system encompasses four state-run schools: Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo and Stony Brook.

While officials are supportive of the governor’s travel ban, others have expressed disappointment and disgust.

“It is a shame that the University at Albany’s sports teams should be deprived of opportunities to compete because of Gov. Cuomo’s bathroom bullying,” the organization New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms said in a post on Monday. “Unfortunately, New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms has come to expect this governor to place his political interests ahead of the interests of our state and its residents.”

A number of state residents also disagreed with the decision.

“The governor wants to play politics and who gets hurt the most? Not the politicians in NC, but the kids on the Albany team,” wrote one commenter on Syracuse. com. “Those guys dream of playing in places like Cameron indoor stadium, it’s a college basketball shrine. Shame on our governor/king.”

“Interesting precedent,” another stated. “I guess anytime Cuomo has consternation about something personally, he will react by using the entire state as his baseball bat. I guess he thinks NY is the ‘Water Buffalo Lodge’ and he is the grand poobah.”

“NC is laughing at NY,” a third remarked. “Does anyone know that NY is running commercials here trying to entice businesses back to NY using how friendly NY is to the LGBT? I’ve seen them. Your tax dollars at work.”

Gov. Andrew Cuomo shows his bigotry towards everyone else by forcing everyone else to comply to HIS dysfunctional view of gender and bathrooms.

So notice the hypocritical logic they use:

If you’re a man who only FEELS like a woman, even though you still have male genitalia, it’s “discrimination” to make him use the bathroom with other men.

But if you’re REALLY a BIOLOGICAL woman (who obviously also FEELS like a woman, btw), then it’s NOT discrimination to make her use the bathroom with other men who will now walk in on her, both in bathrooms and locker rooms.

Behold the hypocrisy of their “discrimination” lies.

They want to discriminate against everyone else in the name of stopping discrimination. They are discriminating against and endangering everyone else by enabling_perverts, predators and_pedophiles.

Contact your representatives about the REAL discrimination: forcing 100% of women and little girls to use the bathroom with men who will walk in on them in bathrooms and locker rooms. Seek to remove this governor from using his position to bully everyone else to cave to his dysfunction version of morals. Target has already arrested predators, perverts and pedophiles that have been victimizing women / girls due to this dysfunctional mindset of people like Gov. Cuomo.

Until it happens to their own daughters they will continue with the lie, just as it happened to the daughters of the mother who was involved in the ACLU and she resigned. I contacted the governor of my state and the response I got was it is going to be left up to each school in our districts to decide what laws they want to follow in their own schools, most of the schools in my state are sticking with the if you are born a girl, you use the girls facilities or if born a boy the same but we do have a couple of larger cities where they will give into this lie and perversion because those cities are cesspools full of nuts.

When I was a kid, people knew which bathroom to use and we weren’t forced to bend over backwards for gender-challenged people.

    • Ambulance Chaser

How is allowing transgender people to use the bathroom they identify as “bending over backwards?” You don’t have to do anything differently. In fact, it most likely won’t affect your life at all.

  • Reason2012

Beware the “it won’t affect your life at all” lie used by activists. Same lie the activists used to disarm everyone as the activists judges forced same-gender marriage redefinition it on 47 states.

    * Now people are charged as a criminal if they have no problem serving homosexuals as always, but refuse to support an ACT of a same – gender marriage with their business.
    * Now activists go into all schools and expose all the kids to images and ideas of homosexuality -parents are usually not told and when found out and try to opt out “shut up: it’s legal now”.
    * Dare point out you believe God when He said marriage is one man and one woman and be the recipient of hate and death threats

“How will same-gender marriage affect you?” they lied.

And here we go again with trying to force everyone to accept men who are still men walking in on women and little girls in bathrooms and locker rooms. “How will this affect you?!” they continue to lie.

Bottom line: if a person wants to claim they’re the opposite gender, bare minimum: if they haven’t backed up their claim with an attempt at surgery, then they’re still the gender they’re born as. Although surgery doesn’t really change the fact you’re born one gender or another, at least this keeps the predators, perverts and pedophiles from abusing this law to target people and their kids.

Of course, they’ll claim “this has always been going on – you’ve never noticed” – the point is they WANT everyone to “notice” – they WANT everyone to think such things are normal. The whole point of a law they ADMIT wasn’t needed.

Get active, contact your representatives, and businesses that capitulate to these lies and make your voices heard.

When 50LGBT people were slaughtered by someone following islam / shariah law, these activists that pretend to care for the rights of LGBT were instead defending islam as the religion of peace while saying nothing about the ideology of islam / shariah law being responsible for it. This proves these LGBT activists really hate LGBT people, and instead just use them in their attack on morals and Christianity.

  • Oh.. You got to love Harvey. He just said it, like it was..

“It takes no compromise to give people their rights…it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression.”

Remember how Harvey died? Who killed him?

“I am very proud of the role I played in getting legal equality for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, and in helping get rid of the prejudice by being visible about it” MA Senator. Barney Frank – a prominent gay politician in the United States.

In 1996 Frank co-sponsored the “Federal Law Enforcement Dependents Assistance Act” (H.R.4111. Became Public Law No: 104-238.) “to provide educational assistance to the dependents of Federal law enforcement officials who are killed or disabled in the performance of their duties.”

That’s just one of many great laws Barney Frank has done for America.
