WASHINGTON — A Christian political action committee is scolding Barack Obama for participating in a recent homosexual pride event at the White House.
Obama spoke at the celebration last Thursday, and was introduced by two twin girls who were present with their lesbian mothers.
“We welcome you all to the White House for Pride Month,” Obama declared, who was accompanied by Vice President Joe Biden. “From Minnesota to Maryland, from the United States Senate to the NBA, it’s clear we’re reaching a turning point.”
“As I said in my inaugural address, if we truly are created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well,” he continued. “That’s the principle that’s guided by administration over the past 4 1/2 years.”
Obama then proceeded to outline his achievements surrounding government accommodations of the homosexual lifestyle, as well as his future plans.
“We passed a hate crimes bill in Matthew Shepard’s name; we lifted the HIV entry ban [and we] released the first national HIV/AIDS strategy,” he recounted. “Starting next year, the Affordable Care Act will ban insurance companies from denying someone coverage just for being LGBT, … and because no one should have to hide who they love to serve the country that they love, we ended Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell once and for all.”
However, following the event, the political action group Government is Not God posted a short entry about the occasion, stating that Obama’s actions are antithetical to the Christian faith he professes to follow.
“Obama, who claims to be a Christian, might want to read Romans 1:18-31,” it wrote.
“And, he might want to read that the Lord Jesus Christ said about those who defile children: ‘But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea,'” it added, referring to the twin girls that Obama praised at the event.
The committee also noted that Obama, in quoting from Martin Luther King, Jr, spoke of those who have “bent the arc of the moral universe towards justice.”
“That’s a clever way of saying they have turned morality upside down and violated God’s moral laws in pushing for the normalization of homosexual sex acts,” the organization stated.
According to Government is Not God’s Facebook page, the group was founded in 1992 by William J. Murray, the son of late atheist activist Madeline Murray O’Hair. The committee works to elect candidates that espouse Christian values, and helps to fund their campaign efforts.
“We do not support any candidates unless they return a questionnaire affirming that they are pro-life, pro-family and stand firmly against the unBiblical welfare state that is destroying the spiritual and economic greatness of our nation,” it outlines.
Obama has marked June as Homosexual Pride Month every year during his tenure in office. The White House posted video of Obama’s speech at this year’s event on its official YouTube page.
