MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (The Journal News) — The city will pay $112,500 to a man who alleged he was falsely arrested after being hit by a taxi.

The Mount Vernon Board of Estimate and Contract voted Tuesday to pay a settlement to Stephen Sudu of Georgia, who sued the city in 2013 alleging misconduct by two Mount Vernon police officers who arrested him in 2011.

In his federal civil rights lawsuit Sudu claimed that shortly before midnight on Oct. 17, 2011, he was lawfully in a parking lot in front of 22 Sheridan Ave. when a Round Town livery taxi allegedly driven by Oliver Pryce drove into him and then fled the scene.
