A domain registration company is claiming to be the only business of its type to fight pornography on the Internet.
PurityNames.com stated that it is concerned about the surge of pornographic material on the web, much of which is enabled by registrars that sell .xxx domains.
Jim Prendergast, the CEO of PurityNames.com, explained that his company is the only registrar that refuses to make a profit from pornographic clients, and will even take measures to ensure that its customers keep their websites clean. Not only are the sites of existing users randomly audited, but other clients are also invited to file complaints against any website that does not abide by the company’s terms of service.
Prendergast noted that Internet companies are making enormous profits from pornography, including ICM, which is said to have garnered 13 million from .xxx sales just last year.
