A new video released by the barbaric Islamic group ISIS, which identifies itself as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, shows the terrorists taking delight in inventing new depraved ways to kill those that they capture.
The footage appears to be a continuation of a video released last week entitled “The Deterring of Spies I,” which showed members of ISIS affixing a prisoner to a pole with his arms outstretched like Christ. The man’s right hand and left foot are then cut off with a hunting knife as he screams out in pain.
A quote from the Koran was posted during the four-minute video: “The penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger … is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land.”
In a new video released by ISIS on Tuesday, members of the group reach new and shocking lows in killing those proclaimed to be spies. Footage shows sixteen men in orange jumpsuits being split into three groups. One group of four men are placed inside of a car in the middle of the desert and then a rocket-propelled grenade is hurled at the vehicle, which consequently explodes. A jihadist can be seen recording with a video camera as the execution unfolds.
The second group of men, five in total, are locked inside of a cage and then lowered into what appears to be a murky swimming pool. According to reports, ISIS utilized an underwater camera to capture footage of the men drowning inside of the cage.
The third group of men, seven in total, are made to kneel on the ground in a row as they are tied together around their necks with explosives. The explosives are then detonated.
ISIS drew shock and outrage earlier this year when it released a video and photographs of a captured Palestinian pilot being locked in a cage, as a torch lights a trail of flammable powder leading up to the captive. The screaming pilot falls to his knees and is consumed by the flames until he is no more. An ISIS member driving a tractor then dumps rocks and sand onto the cage to extinguish the fire.
The publication Al Arabiya commented on Wednesday that it believes the “[v]ideos of the killings are a key propaganda tool of the militants, used to shock and terrify their enemies as well as to draw in new recruits seeking the most brutal and active militant group.”
