Federal Judge: Requiring More Parking for Mosque Is Unconstitutional

(Associated Press) An upscale New Jersey town violated anti-discrimination laws by insisting that a proposed mosque have more parking spaces than churches or synagogues because of its unique worship times and traditions, a federal judge has ruled.

The ruling issued Saturday by U.S. District Judge Michael Shipp stated that Bernards Township violated the Religious Land Use and Institutional Persons Act by applying a different standard to Muslims.

Shipp found the township’s planning board had “unbridled and unconstitutional discretion” because of its vague parking requirements.

        You Westerners over-estimate yourselves too much. You guys would be just another case of illiterate savages on Planet Earth if you had no Bible or Christianity. Face your own history and current situations. Your Christian ancestors had noble ideas and ideals from the Holy Bible alone.

  • How town a city not wanting a mosque parking in its streets become a federal case? Was the state court not able to decide the matter?

      I cannot find if a lower court had any imput in the case before it got to that stage but the complaint was over a violation of federal law.
