Malta Legalizes Same-Sex ‘Marriage’

VALLETTA, Malta (New York Times) — Lawmakers in Malta, a predominantly Roman Catholic country, voted to legalize same-sex marriage on Wednesday, joining much of Western Europe by replacing the traditional “you are now husband and wife” declaration in civil ceremonies with “you are now spouses.”

Only one lawmaker out of 67 in the Maltese Parliament voted against the legislation, signaling its broad support on the island nation despite opposition from the Catholic Church.

The lawmaker who opposed the legislation, Edwin Vassallo, cited his Catholic faith and its incompatibility with what he called a “morally unacceptable” law.

Malachi 4:1 “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them

That day is when His wrath is poured out. Not a good place to be.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat hailed the vote, saying it showed that
Maltese society had reached “an unprecedented level of maturity.”

ME: If by “maturity” he means fully developed level headed-ness, he doesn’t know what maturity means. Maybe he meant “depravity”?

“We live in a society where we can all say ‘we are equal,’” Mr. Muscat
said as a celebration erupted outside his office in Valletta, the

ME: Equality is not an outcome. If I say I have the right to a Rolls Royce, does the government then intervene, pass a law (or in the US by SC opinion)providing me with the RR with other people’s money? Maybe I should sue for not being treated “Equal” under the law?

Mr. Muscat had said it would be “discriminatory” to have separate laws for mixed and same-sex couples.

ME: Marriage, by its very nature is ONLY for a man and woman made for that sexual union by design! Two men or two women are not designed for such a sexual union. It is anti-natural law and moral law. The nature of law itself is “discriminatory”. Maybe we should void all law and do whatever we want?

Marriage is, above all, an economic institution. Tied very strongly to inheritance rights. The sacrament of marriage is a different story. There each religion defines it their own way.

As for reproduction, with a 40% out-of-wedlock birth rate in the US, it seems marriage is not so important to heteros who reproduce. Add in the number of second and third marriages and you see that reproduction is less and less tied to marriage.

Now science will soon allow two people, of any gender, to procreate. It appears that stem cells can be turned into anything, even sperm and an egg. Just need to find a surrogate womb. A brave new world indeed.
