FBI Investigating as Improvised Explosive Device Detonated at Minnesota Islamic Center

(Minneapolis Star Tribune) A blast caused by what the FBI called “an improvised explosive device” rocked a Bloomington Islamic center before dawn Saturday, just as a small group of Muslim worshipers had gathered for the day’s first round of prayers.

No one was hurt in the explosion, which heavily damaged an imam’s office at the Dar Al Farooq Center and sent smoke wafting through the large building. Windows in the office were shattered, either by the blast or by an object thrown through them.

The blast was reported at 5:05 a.m. as about a dozen people gathered in a room nearby for morning prayers, and jolted awoke many residents of the neighborhood. Congregants and neighbors expressed relief that there were no injuries, but also reacted with shock and dismay.

Like other Muslim attacks, this one will probably be proven to be self inflicted too.

    • mr goody two shoes

It could be a competing Muslim sect. Muslims don’t get along with each other as much as they want you to think they do.

      • Guest✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

The way that the camera was conveniently shut off and the location of the bomb (notice no one was hurt) suggests it’s the usual Muslim hoax.

  • The Skeptical Chymist

Domestic terrorism, inspired by the election of Trump.

    • mr goody two shoes

No Most likely inspired by what’s known about Mohammed. He wasn’t always sitting around sewing and laughing with his wives ya know. Islam did not grow because they were nice to other people. .

Could be, could just be an anti Muslim person or could be a hard line Muslim By far the majority of casualties at the hands of Islamic radicals are regular Muslims.

      • The Skeptical Chymist

Certainly, it is true that the majority of Islamic radical attacks in the Middle East are on other Muslims, but is that the case in the US? Could be, but as the attacks in Oregon on veiled Muslim women showed, in the US such attacks can come from Trump supporters. Time, and a thorough investigation will tell.

        • Guest✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

There has never been a single documented case of a Trump supporter attacking Muslims. Jeremy Christian, the man who committed the Oregon attacks, was a Bernie Sanders supporter and was filmed harassing and threatening Trump supporters.

          • The Skeptical Chymist

Thank you. I stand corrected on the case of Jeremy Christian. I had read that, and knew it at one time, but had forgotten. My apologies.

I do think that Trump openly advocates violence – from the police (as in his recent address to the Suffolk County, NY police department, I believe, which was repudiated by police chiefs across the country), to his rallies (where he’s said he’ll pay for the legal expenses if his supporters attack protesters). It’s not that big a step from there to his supporters actually engaging in attacks.

          • Guest✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

And yet no supporters have attacked anyone, but have been victimized time and again.

          • The Skeptical Chymist

Some protesters at Trump’s rallies would beg to differ with you. I’ve seen the video of a person at a Trump rally jump out of his seat to beat up a Trump protester as the protester was being evicted. So yes, Trump supporters have attacked people.

And the current Congressman from Montana, a Trump supporter, attacked a journalist for asking a question. Simply asking a question.

My point is that Trump’s ascendancy has debased our political discourse, and political violence (all grant you that it’s not always from the Trump side) has increased as a result.

I don’t consider Trump supporters to be victimized in the slightest. They are the victimizers, in my humble opinion.

          • Guest✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

There is no documented case of a Trump supporter attacking someone unprovoked.

The elderly man who managed to land a punch on a protester did so after the said protester verbally and physically harassed him earlier as he waited in line. Later, the same protester threatened the old man as he was being led out, but the MSM never shows you that.

As far as your opinion goes, it’s meaningless. You may be of the opinion that the earth is flat, or that the Holocaust never happened. Doesn’t make it true. There are no documented cases of any Trump supporters attacking anyone unprovoked, but there are hundreds, yes HUNDREDS, of cases of Trump supporters being attacked merely for being Trump supporters.

          • The Skeptical Chymist

Regardless of anything you say, it is undeniable that Trump breaks all the norms of encouraging violence and having no respect for others. From the chants of “Lock her up!”, to the denigration of the parents who’ve lost their Muslim children in war, to denigrating a judge of Mexican heritage who has lived in the US longer than Trump’s own mother -Trump has broken all rules of decorum and respect for others. What other politician has riled up his mob so severely that a reporter has had to be escorted out of a rally by the Secret Service?

The protester verbally and physically harassed the elderly man who punched him? How? What is this “physical”
harassment? This is like blaming the woman because the poor man was unable to resist raping her because of her short skirt. The person who initiates the violence is the one at fault. The poor, poor elderly man, couldn’t withstand some verbal taunts, so he punched the protester? Then he is the one at fault.

And Representative Gianforte of Montana attacked a reporter. He has since admitted that this was his fault. He is a Trump supporter. And the reporters crime was asking him about his views on ACA repeal, in a respectful tone.

I’m done talking about this with you. If you can’t see that Trump encourages violence, you’re beyond reason.

          • Guest✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

You’re making up stories. There is not one documented case of Donald Trump advocating violence. It’s just your supposition, or fake news, as it were.

There are plenty of cases of the Democrats inciting violence. “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun”. Obama “Get in their faces”. Obama Blowing up the White House (Madonna), a headless Trump (Kathy Griffin), that’s all your side, the party of the KKK.

A Trump supporter was glassed for wearing a Trump hat. He requires plastic surgery as a result. A woman was cornered and egged simply for going to see Trump at a rally. People have been shot at, cut, hit in the head with a bike lock (requiring stitches and medical care), attacked animals, police officers, etc. Those are all Democrats who hate Trump, not Trump supporters.

Sorry, but facts aren’t on your side.

        • james blue

Just responding to theories. Of course if it does turn out to be a Muslim the claims will then be “inside job” because of the “all Muslims are the same” mentality that seems to be in control.

    • Fang

      Prove it.

    • Guest✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

You’re going to feel like an idiot when facts become known.

      • The Skeptical Chymist

        Time will tell.

  • Michael C

Just a week before this latest attack on Minnesota Muslims, former Minnesota Representative, Michelle Bachmann, lit up conservative news with an anti-Muslim tirade. She claimed that, because of Muslims, “Minnesota is no longer the state [she] moved to in the mid 1960s.” She blamed Islam for a horrible recent cop shooting and she claimed that “multiculturalism” is “killing people and destroying the future of the West.” Her interview was concluded with her assertion that Muslims should be required to adopt Western dress.

When you write things on the internet or even when you casually say things to your family and friends, consider whether or not you’re being fair and honest and loving and just. Please try not to speak from ignorance and fear and hate. Perpetuating ignorance and fear and hate has very real world repercussions.

Thankfully nobody was hurt in this terrorist attack.

    • Fang

In other words, you’re a typical prog, you wish to silence anyone you disagree with.

      • Ambulance Chaser

I can’t imagine how you get that from what Michael C said.

    • Guest✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Nice of you to play the blame game without any shred of proof. When it becomes apparent that a Muslim did this, will you apologize?

  • Fang

The website fakehatecrimes has a long and well-documented list of “hate crimes” perpetrated by homosexuals, Muslims, ethnic groups, etc. wanting to further their victim narrative. I cannot believe any Christians would do this.
