Apologist Nabeel Qureshi, Author of ‘Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus,’ Dies Following Battle With Cancer

(Gospel Coalition) On Saturday, September 16, 2017, Nabeel Qureshi, age 34, entered into the joy of his master, Jesus Christ, after enduring a yearlong battle with cancer. …

As a Christian apologist with a special focus on Islam, Nabeel was often introduced as a “former Muslim.” He felt ambivalence about the label, wondering if he would be forever bound by the life he left.

“We don’t identify other Christians as ‘former adulterers,’ ‘former narcissists,” etc. I have been made a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), I strive every day to cast off the old self and to put on the new (Ephesians 4:22-24), reflecting the fact that I have been born again from above (John 3:3). I would be thrilled if I never had to talk about Islam again, focusing instead on the awe-inspiring power of God’s incarnation and resurrection!”

But, he added:  “… as long as there are Muslims, there will be Christians who need to be equipped to share the Gospel with them in compelling compassion. Until that is no longer the case, I am honored to discuss my former way of life to build up the body of Christ.” …

In February of 2014, Nabeel published his first book, “Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity” (Zondervan), which landed on the New York Times bestseller list, and was awarded the Christian Book Award for both “Best New Author” and “Best Non-Fiction Book” of 2015. It has sold over a quarter of a million copies.

    very sad …….

I think we actually do and should more identify as what we formerly were.. it’s called our testimony. Maybe too many of us hide who we were and try to look perfect now… but I refer to myself as a mostly former.. religious, judgemental, depressed, rebellious hypocrite. There’s power in where we’ve come from, it shows what God can do when we let Him act!

    • Amos Moses – He>i

i do not think we try to hide it ….. it has just become irrelevant to us …. and i think it sometimes becomes some kind of challenge to see who was worse … i honestly do not care a whole lot about peoples “testimonies” …. i mean they are interesting sometimes ….. but it does not tell me a whole lot …..

“what God can do when we let Him act!”

no it does not ……. it shows what God can do when we do NOT allow Him to act …. it has nothing to do with us …. it is all Him ……….

Yes that is a FACT. Where there is a will there is a way. In JESUS “all” things are possible if we ONLY believe.
I have had many things change but still struggle with a few. I am a work in progress. GOD has NOT give up on me. As long as I reach out and call on His name to help me, He will deliver me completely. JESUS came to set the captives free. Our change then becomes our testimony. Our witnessing always matters to JESUS. He loves our worship, our praise and our adoration. He really wants our utmost obedience to His word, commands, instructions.
It’s about us finding Him and doing His will. It’s about letting Him have His way in our life and not fighting to do it “our way”…Just allowing Him to change us and mold us into what we need to be according to His will, and “not” what we want to be…That’s the key, “obedience” to His voice.
His arms are wide open to us. He wants to have a relationship with us. He’s willing to meet us on our level if ONLY we will let Him.

We have been earnestly praying for a healing. But God has chosen the best for Nabeel and now we have the sure hope of meeting him at the eternal shore. Lord Jesus had an enormous task to fulfill, yet God gave only thirty three and half years of life and ministry on earth. Nabeel too fulfilled his mission in a short period and continued to bring Glory to God till the end. Praying for his Wife and child to be comforted by the presence of the Master in the midst of the vacuum left by brother Nabeel’s physical absence.

OH thank GOD that He found the ONLY Savior JESUS (YESHUA) before it was too late for him. JESUS just reached down and wrapped His arms around him and knocked on his door and he accepted that knowing that the calling was indeed real.
He passed on knowing JESUS as His savior and that was the very best purest gift that anybody could receive on this earth, the present of JESUS CHRIST. Now he can spend his eternity in the coming Kingdom of GOD. Thank GOD he got away from Islam and found the truth.
When we know the truth, the truth will set us free (spiritually free) in the word. I do hope his wife is also a believer in the true Savior and not any other.

Sometimes the most merciful thing Jesus can do is take a person home for reasons only He knows. I look forward to meeting him in heaven! I have tears after reading his story. I wish all would seek God with the same level of earnestness, then Jesus would be found by them.

As Jesus said, “Those who seek; find…”
The thing that is good about the label of former-whatever is that God has delivered us from that and now that testimony can be instrumental to deliver other people trapped in it also.

I pray that all his lost family members will come to faith in Jesus and be wrapped in His arms of love and comfort as well. May they have the same passion to seek out and find what their dear son did!

Come to the God of Love, come to Jesus!

It’s sad that he couldn’t have remained here to continue his work, to do more good on earth and to write even more books about his life experiences but yes GOD is merciful. The scriptures tell us that GOD’s ways are NOT our ways and His thoughts are NOT our thoughts so when these terrible things happen we wonder why they happen, but only GOD knows for sure.
What people can be thankful for is that He found the TRUE REAL SAVIOR, that’s all that matters, otherwise he would have been lost forever!
