Following the death of George Floyd, demonstrations broke out over the weekend in at least 30 cities across America in order to condemn Floyd’s death at the hands of police. While thousands came together peacefully, the events have not been without large scale looting and violence — even in broad daylight — as well as messages of hatred spray-painted on buildings and storefront windows directed at police in general, such as “Vengeance” and “Kill Cops!”

As a result of the widespread chaos, the National Guard has been sent into at least 16 cities in an effort to quell the rising tensions and to curb the destruction, including to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after widespread fires, looting and other unrest took place over the weekend.

In the video, which was recorded and posted online by Philadelphia resident Jason Culler, you can hear Culler comparing the events taking place in city to “war zone,” and stating the following about what he was witnessing and recording:

“Truth be told. They done [expletive] up the city, but all this can be replaced. You take a black man, black woman [sic] life, it can’t be replaced. Police brutality is not acceptable. As the people of Philadelphia said and around the country, ‘no justice, no peace.’ And this is the result of killing an innocent black man. Killing people because they [sic] black. Not acceptable, at all.”

The National Guard arrived in Philadelphia late Sunday night.
