The man behind the distinctive voice of Elmo from the popular children’s television broadcast Sesame Street, who recently came out as a homosexual after being accused by a 23-year-old man of engaging in sexual relations with him as a teen, has been leveled with a third child sex lawsuit.
The latest lawsuit involves a 29-year-old who states that he was lured into a sexual encounter with Sesame Street‘s Kevin Clash twelve years ago as a teenager.
Referring to Clash as “Mr. Tickler,” the unnamed accuser claims that the two met on a homosexual chat line, where Clash invited him to his apartment to talk and have drinks. He states that after conversing for a while, things turned sexual, and that Clash continued calling him “to arrange meetings for sexual encounters.”
Clash denies the allegations.
“Mr. Clash believes this lawsuit has no merit,” representatives wrote on behalf of the former puppeteer, who resigned last week after a second accuser came forward.
“[W]e intend to defend Mr. Clash and his reputation vigorously,” added Clash’s attorney, Michael Berger.
24-year-old Cecil Singleton filed a a suit against Clash last week, making similar allegations that the puppeteer “trolled gay telephone chat line rooms to meet and have sex with underage boys,” and that he lured him with dinners and and cash. He is demanding $5 million in retribution for sexually violating the man when he was fifteen.
As previously reported, 23-year-old Sheldon Stephens was the first to come out against Clash, claiming that the two had intimate relations beginning when Stephens was sixteen. He later recanted, but reverted to his original assertion after stating that he was paid settlement money by Clash to change his story.
“I am a gay man,” Clash wrote in a public statement, who has been puppeteering Elmo since 1984. “I have never been ashamed of this or tried to hide it, but felt it was a personal and private matter.”
